Project Description

Client: The right amount of Evil Location: Downtown Dallas and Tyler Texas Surface Area: 880 SF

When we arrived, there was already an ugly red epoxy floor with the worst black highlights in the garage. The GC told me he hired the local epoxy seller who thought he can install epoxy and he screwed it up so bad that the customer was...very upset let's say. We could tell that he did not understand how quickly epoxy sets up in Texas heat which hindered his ability to move the highlights within the flood coat. Also he did not prime the slab which would have showed him (as it did us) that there is outgassing happening from below the slab.

The Challenges

A GC in Tyler Texas called. His client wanted a floor for her new electric Porsche and he sends me the Pinterest photo she found. Turns out the installer, DreamCrete Custom Creations, is a friend of one of my colleagues in Florida. I phoned Nick in Orlando and procured the exact materials he used from Xtreme Polishing Systems.

We completely removed the offensive install and our team constructed a superior floor. She now parks her brand new Porsche on the floor she dreamed of.

The sample board we created for this project was shown to a homeowner of a high rise condo in Dallas and she hired us to install it in her upstairs loft office. We joked that the black gave the red the “right amount of evil.” Perhaps she’ll write it into her next novel!
